And thus came the idea of making prepaid card accounts that were available to the consumers.
A prepaid debit card can act both as your credit and debit card in one. Sometimes, it is also considered as the pre-paid credit card. All who have it will have a reduced credit risk because the cash is loaded onto the card so you do not have to pay for the money that you spend using the card.
According to some satisfied users, it is like having a bank account in a card form. You can easily take the money that you need using any available ATM machines without worrying about paying it the next month.
The initial deposit usually amounts to about 5 to 10 dollars. After this, your account will be activated and will be rendered usable by you. Another advantage of using a prepaid debit card is that you can use it to your heart’s desire. You would not have to worry about paying for your bills later, because as you use your prepaid debit card, money gets deducted from your account, and you do not have to pay it afterward.
One drawback of having this type of card is that you have to deposit a larger amount of money in your account in order to pay for things. However, it would be more advantageous for people with bad credit because they can use it to pay for things like hotels and car rentals if necessary.
However, there are certain limitations of using your prepaid debit card. Some transactions are impossible to be made using this type of card, because some companies (like Internet Service providers) do not want to do transactions using a prepaid card. This is because they fear that most of the customers with prepaid cards would not have any funds available in the card when payment time comes.
In addition to this, it would be a disadvantage for you to pay for a product that would be deductible from your prepaid credit card in monthly installments, because there might come a time when you may not be able to deposit any money in your account. If this happens, you will be held liable for any problems regarding your transaction.
However, using a prepaid debit card is still very advantageous, especially for those who have limited financial resources at the moment. It would lessen your worries because the content of the card depends on your ability to deposit money into the account. If you do not have any money to put in, you can just stop using the card for some time. In short, you are not required to deposit monthly payments with this kind of card.
